Our stories

As a *neurodiverse* person of colour, I *challenge systems* not built for those like me.

What was your journey into the climate/environmental sector?

I stumbled into the sector by chance. There was a paid role at a place I volunteered, and I started just before COVID-19 hit.

What challenges have you faced?

The everyday systems. Zoom calls with no breaks, rigid structures not built for minds like mine - it can feel overwhelming. Add being a person of colour and I feel like I have to be twice as good, like I’m representing everyone. It can be exhausting.

How has your identity shaped your experience?

It’s been both a barrier and a strength. My neurodiversity helps me see things others miss. But it’s a constant effort to be understood and not underestimated.

What change do you want to see in this space and why does PACE Index matter?

I want real inclusion to be embedded in organisations across Europe. I also want the sector to acknowledge intersecting identities, and consider these when making change. PACE Index holds organisations accountable and gives them a clear path to inclusion. I love the “A” in PACE, for me, “action” is the most important thing.
